by Frank Miniter

Regnery Publishing, Inc.; ISBN: 1596985704

Hardcover - 256 pages (May 2009)

Bailouts, Affairs, and Steroids: Are These the Traits of an Ultimate Man?

In a time when everyone is looking for a bailout, headlines highlight John Edwards' affair, and books detail A-Rod's steroid use, what has happened to men of honor and integrity? Once upon a time, a real man fought for his country, treated women with respect, and was a hero to his children.

But in today's metrosexual world, are there any real men left? Frank Miniter’s The Ultimate Man's Survival Guide, shows guys exactly what it takes to be a real man.

The Ultimate Man's Survival Guide explains how to fight off alligators, identify poisonous spiders, mix a perfect martini, and more. From tying a tourniquet to tying a bowtie—Miniter teaches men the skills, attitudes, and philosophies they need to be the Ultimate Man.

Packed with more than 600 practical tips, answers, and facts as well as how-to illustrations, advice, and anecdotes, The Ultimate Man's Survival Guide includes:

  • Practical information for the Ultimate Man—packing a first aid kit, casting a fly rod, choosing the perfect cigar, wooing a lady, saving a drowning victim
  • Profiles of Ultimate Men—Theodore Roosevelt, Lou Gehrig, Floyd Patterson, Winston Churchill, and Socrates
  • The universal traits that make an Ultimate Man—self-confidence, precision, wisdom, humility, bravery, strength, and knowledge

The Ultimate Man's Survival Guide proves that any guy can be the Ultimate Man, whether he is rescuing a lost hiker, plucking a child from a swift stream, standing up against injustice, or making the perfect cocktail.

About the Author:

Frank Miniter has floated the Amazon, run with the bulls of Pamplona, hunted everything from bear in Russia to elk with the Apache to kudu in the Kalahari, and has fly-fished everywhere from Alaska’s Kenai to Scotland’s River Spey to Japan’s freestone streams. Along the way he was taught to box by Floyd Patterson, spelunked into Pompey’s Cave, climbed everywhere from New York’s Gunks to the Rockies, and is currently learning Kenkojuko Karate with Sensei Masakazu Takahashi. He graduated from the oldest private military academy in the U.S., a place that still teaches honor and old-school gentlemanly conduct, and believes men need this book because the U.S. has lost its code of honor as enumerated by its Founding Fathers. He is the author of The Politically Incorrect GuideTM to Hunting and has won numerous awards for outdoor and conservation writing. He was a Senior Editor at Outdoor Life magazine and, currently, is the Executive Editor of American Hunter magazine.
